Details
I received a call from dispatch indicating that a shooting occurred at 115A Denby Street, Toronto, Ontario. I arrived at this location at 2:23 AM. Upon my arrival I found one Cynthia Vetere at the scene in a complete state of panic. She was visibly shaken and her speech was largely incoherent. Ms. Vetere had apparently called the police when she found the deceased, Taylor Sharp, unconscious in his living room. He had been shot in the chest.
My inspection of the apartment at 115A Denby Street injdicated that there had been very little struggle. Only a green porcelain vase had been destroyed at the scene. The vase was found smashed on the hearth of the fireplace. The fireplace was only 6 feet from where the victim was found. Only the victim's fingerprints were found on the vase.
The gunshot wound was consistent with a wound that would be received when fired upon at point blank range. I could see a good deal of gunpowder burns and residue on the victim’s clothing. The victim demonstrated no other wounds that would indicate a struggle on or about the time of his death. A 38 Special handgun was found on the table nearby the victim. I could smell fresh gunpowder residue from the gun. I bagged the gun and marked it as evidence.
I asked Ms. Vetere if she had seen anything of the struggle or the shooting, and she said that she hadn’t. She stated that the victim was found by her only 15 minutes earlier. She indicated that, upon her arrival to the residence, she had witnessed one Felicity Moncton fleeing the scene in her car. (Please see attached Witness Report #712)
