Topic: Canada's Court System

Objectives:

During this class students will examine the court system of Canada.

In specific, students will come to know that Canada has four levels of courts within its court system, including:

In addition, students will come to know that the above levels of courts exist within three separate jurisdictions, including:

Students will come to understand what kind of issues are dealt with by the various level courts and across the various jurisdictions. Finally, students will come to understand how issues from all lower courts and across all jurisdictions can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Teaching Strategies and Evaluation:

Students will examine these concepts and issues through a Socratic style lecture. Note: A pop quiz is never beyond the realm of possibility.
