Lesson #2 (A):
During this class students will explore the role which information technology plays in Canadian society. Students will examine the various ways which this technology impacts their lives and influences their standard of living. In addition, students will learn to differentiate between information, technology, and information technology. Finally, students will develop an understanding of the term "information technology."
| Information: knowledge of facts or events derived from study, experience or instruction; the communication of this knowledge. |
| Technology: the application of science - particularly to industrial or commercial activities. |
| Information Technology: the use of technology to gather, process and transmit information. |
Evaluation:

After discussing the basic definitional components of information technology, students will meet in their management groups in order to brainstorm a list of at least 15 examples of information technology.
Once students have completed the above task, the class will procede to the next part of this lesson, Exploring the Anatomy of a Computer.
